Breaking News – Inter Miami Eye Move for Barcelona’s Jordi Alba

Inter Miami, the newest MLS expansion team, are reportedly eyeing a move to sign Barcelona’s veteran defender Jordi Alba. This news has been confirmed, who claim that there is stiff competition from Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and clubs in Saudi Arabia for his signature.

Alba, 34, have agreed to end his contract with Barcelona one year before it was due to expire in 2024. The Spaniard is now looking for a new club this summer and Inter Miami could provide him with that opportunity. Inter Miami have already made contact with Alba regarding a potential move as they look to bolster their roster ahead of the 2023/24 season.

It would be quite the coup for Inter Miami if they were able to sign someone of Alba’s quality and experience. The left-back has spent 11 seasons at Barcelona where he won numerous titles, including eight La Liga championships and four Copa del Rey trophies. He has also played over 150 times for Spain at international level and was part of the squad that won the UEFA European Championships in 2012.

Alba’s signing would be a major statement of intent from Inter Miami as they look to establish themselves as an MLS superpower. With experienced players like Blaise Matuidi, Gonzalo Higuain and Wil Trapp already signed up, adding Alba to that list would only make them more attractive when it comes to competing in the MLS Eastern Conference next season and beyond.

The club have also unveiled their new jerseys for the upcoming 2023/24 campaign which feature black stripes on a light pink background – tipped off by owner David Beckham himself earlier this year – which could entice both fans and potential players alike as they start their journey in MLS football. Inter Miami are hoping that adding Jordi Alba to their ranks will help them challenge for honours right away when they join Major League Soccer next season; however competition is fierce amongst other top clubs who are vying for his services too. It remains to be seen whether or not he will take up Inter Miami’s offer but should he do so it would certainly set a precedent amongst other potential big-name signings down the line too.
